- Four credits
- Open to upperclass students, particularly those majoring in
biology
- Satisfies the Botanical distribution area within the biology
major
- Course meets each week for two three-hour workshops
- Prerequisites include BIO 121-122 (Principles of Modern Biology I
& II), BIO 225 (Population and Evolution Biology), and BIO 226
(Cellular and Molecular Biology); or permission of the instructor.
- Course is designated as Writing Intensive
Major topics include:
- General morphological features of plants
- Structure and function of cells
- Morphology and anatomy of stems, leaves, roots, and reproductive
organis
- Effects of intrinsic and extrinsic factors on plant growth
- Plant-water relations
- Plant-mineral nutrition
- Photosynthesis
