The Rosenthal Herbarium contains Wilkes University's collection of
pressed vascular plants. It was organized in 1982, and named in
memory of former student Joel Rosenthal in 1991. The Herbarium is
housed in Stark Learning Center, Room 355. Its holdings contain
over 2200 specimens, including seedless vascular plants,
conifers, and angiosperms. Approximately 85% of the specimens are
from Pennsylvania (67% being from Luzerne County). The collection also
includes specimens from adjoining states, as well as Florida, Texas,
California, and Canada. More than half of the specimens are from
student collections. About 25% are specimens collected by Dr. Klemow.
